What style of dance should i try?

At Frontier Studios, we celebrate the diverse world of dance, offering a range of styles that cater to different interests and goals. Let's dive into the various dance styles we offer and explore the unique benefits each one brings to dancers.

Classical Ballet: Classical ballet is the foundation of many dance techniques. It emphasizes precise movements, strong technique, and grace. Ballet helps improve posture, flexibility, balance, and overall body strength. It also teaches discipline, focus, and attention to detail, making it a great choice for those looking for a structured and traditional dance form. We believe Ballet is the foundation of a lot of different styles of dance and appreciate the hard work put into Ballet class builds a stronger dancer in other styles of dance too!

Jazz: Jazz dance is vibrant, energetic, and full of personality. It incorporates elements and technique of ballet. Jazz classes often focus on coordination, rhythm, and style. Jazz dance improves flexibility, strength, and coordination, while also encouraging self-expression and creativity. Often using the latest pop music this is often a more upbeat and faster paced class.

Hip Hop: Hip hop is all about rhythm, groove, and individual style. It originated from street dance and urban culture. Hip hop classes include popping, locking, breaking, and freestyle movements. Hip hop dancing is a fantastic cardio workout that improves stamina, agility, and musicality. It's also a great way to express yourself through movement and connect with contemporary culture.

Tap: Tap dancing is all about creating rhythms with your feet. It's a percussive dance style that focuses on footwork, timing, and coordination. Tap dance classes are fun and rhythmic, improving musicality, timing, and agility. Tap dancing also enhances listening skills and encourages creativity through improvised rhythms.

Lyrical & Contemporary: Lyrical and contemporary dance styles are expressive, emotional, and fluid. They blend elements of ballet, jazz, and modern dance. Lyrical dance focuses on storytelling through movement and often expresses through the lyrics of the song, while contemporary dance explores new ways of moving and interpreting music. Just like contemporary art - Contemporary dance can be very outside the box! These styles improve flexibility, emotional expression, and artistic interpretation.

Acrobatics: Acrobatic dance combines dance movements with acrobatic elements like flips, lifts, and balancing tricks. It’s a mesh between elements from gymnastics and modern dance. It requires strength, flexibility, and control. Acrobatics classes improve core strength, flexibility, and body awareness. They also build confidence and trust between dancers when partnering in acrobatic moves.

Musical Theatre: Musical theatre dance combines acting, singing, and dancing in a theatrical performance. It's often characterized by storytelling through song and dance. Musical theatre classes improve performance skills, stage presence, and versatility as a performer. They also teach dancers to embody different characters through movement and expression.

Pointe: Pointe dancing is an advanced ballet technique where dancers dance on the tips of their toes using pointe shoes. It requires strong technique, ankle strength, and balance. Pointe classes improve foot strength, posture, and grace. They also challenge dancers to achieve a high level of precision and artistry in their movements.
